Scymnognathus parringtoni is a carnivorous gorgonopsian therapsid (mammal-like reptile) from the Upper Permian.
The life-size model is based on the original skeleton housed in the Museum of Geology and Palaeontology at the University of Tübingen, Germany (U.28), which was found in the Karroo - Formation of Usili, East Africa and described by v.Huene (1950).
The model was made by Susanne Henssen under the scientific supervision of Dr. Eberhard �Dino� Frey (Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde Karlsruhe, Germany).
It was cast using high quality epoxy resin, reinforced with glassfibres and was coloured using non-fade paint and varnish.
The eyes are made of glass.
